Position for the 2025-2026 school year.  Salary Schedule is based on the 2025-2026 school year (Independent Aide).

 

This is a 10-month temporary position, that includes benefits of paid medical and leave.  May be eligible to apply for other open opportunities to fill when assignment ends.

 

TITLE:   Multi-Lingual Learners (Title III) Educational Classroom Aide at Siuslaw Middle/High Schools, .5 FTE (4 hours per day), 8am - 12pm, Monday - Friday.

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The MLL Educational Aide is assigned by the district to assist the teacher in clerical and student supervision duties. The instructional assistant is directly responsible to the classroom teacher based on the assignment level by the district.

 

 

RESPONSIBLE TO:  Building Principal

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • NCLB Highly Qualified
  • Knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction
  • Experience with multilingual children preferred
  • Experience in a classroom setting preferred

 ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The assistant shall supervise students in online coursework with oversight by a certified ESOL teacher.
  • The assistant shall supervise students, as assigned by the principal, during lunch timeand/or recess periods.
  • The assistant will correct papers for the classroom teacher.
  • The assistant will duplicate papers for the teachers.
  • The assistant will type tests, daily work and other communications for the classroom teacher which is directly related to the instructional program.
  • The assistant will laminate materials for the teacher.
  • The assistant will gather and prepare special materials for the teacher's instructional program.
  • If there are no scheduling conflicts with other assigned duties, the assistant will assist the teacher with supervising field trips.
  • The assistant will work with individuals and small groups as assigned by the teacher. The assistant is not responsible for the educational and instructional program. The assistant will use a prepared and organized set of instructions from the teacher for individual and small groups.
  • The assistant will keep accurate and detailed records as instructed by the teacher.
  • The assistant will assist the teacher in the movement of students from one assigned area to the other.
  • The assistant will assist with and/or report student injuries.
  • Under the direct supervision and instruction from the teacher, the assistant will prepare classroom bulletin boards.
  • The assistant will be responsible to assist the teacher in keeping the room orderly and organized in an appropriate educational environmental setting.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with classified staff, licensed staff, and support personnel to establish a positive work environment.
  • Takes precautions to provide for health and safety of the students and to protect equipment, material, and facilities.
  • Assists the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
  • Establishes and maintains a good working relationship with building administrators and staff__cooperating to resolve problems in a professional manner so that the concerns of all parties are considered.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • Good communication, organization and computer skills.
  • Ability to learn and manage online database.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to organize and maintain an efficient time schedule.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students and the public.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Emotional and physical stamina to perform duties as required by the designated task.
  • Effective and strong oral/written communication skills in order to work collaboratively           with a variety of school personnel, as well as parents and community partners.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Requires the use of computers and office equipment.
  • Work is performed in a wide variety of locations, including office and school          
  • May work with high stress student, family, or personnel situations.
  • Involves sitting, walking, and attendance at evening or out of district meetings. 

 CONDITIONS:  This is a classified 10-month position.

 

SALARY:  Will be determined by terms of the current negotiated agreement. The amount due under the

contract may be pro-rated monthly in accordance with district policy.
